Actuation is now possible through detection of touch and/or proximity at a single sense pad. Significant savings are realised without the need for electro-mechanical switches. These mechanical switches can be replaced by an IQS-device in TOUCH configuration or conventional Infra-red units are replaced with an IQS device configured as PROXIMITY sensor.
A TOUCH pad can be realised with a simple copper pour on a PCB and easily projected through a variety of dielectrics.

IQS124 - 1-Channel Capacitive Sensor with Active Driven Shield functionality
The IQS124 is based on the IQS123 with a added Driven Shield. The shield enables the designer to shield the sensing wire from unwanted environmental interference like water passing in a water pipe or people passing over the sense wire. This makes it possible to seperate the sealed electronics from the sensing antenna.

IQS125 - 1-Channel Capacitive Sensor with Synchronising and Active Driven Shield functionality
The IQS125 has a synchronization Pin, enabling the IC to sync with AC or an MCU. With an inexpensive Zener-diode, this device will work from domestic AC voltages, yielding an effective low power sensor. The sensor is well suited for wake-up from stand-by type applications requiring a low standby current, but fast and touch free wake-up with a user approaching. The IC also has an optional Driven Shield which can be used similarly to the IQS124.
